Mexico City Video Production

Mexico, Ciudad de México —
The Creative Capital of Spanish-Speaking America

Caldera Films produces award-winning video content in Mexico City — the world's largest Spanish-language media market and Latin America's undisputed creative and commercial capital. We're bilingual, bicultural, and built for CDMX.

Mexico City is a production powerhouse. With a metropolitan population exceeding 21 million, it is the largest Spanish-language city in the world and the center of gravity for Mexican and Latin American advertising, entertainment, fashion, and corporate communications. Mexico's biggest brands — FEMSA, América Móvil, Televisa, Grupo Bimbo, Cemex — are headquartered here, alongside the Latin American operations of virtually every global multinational.

For production, CDMX offers an extraordinary diversity of locations within a single megalopolis: the grandeur of Paseo de la Reforma and the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the European elegance of Polanco's luxury boutiques, the bohemian murals and café terraces of Roma Norte and Condesa, the pre-Columbian archaeological splendor of Teotihuacán just 50km north, and the colonial splendor of Centro Histórico — a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Caldera Films produces natively in Spanish and English, manages all Mexico City filming permits (Secretaría de Cultura, SEDUVI, delegaciones), and has established crew relationships that span commercial, narrative, and documentary production throughout CDMX and greater Mexico.

Common Questions

Mexico, Ciudad de México —
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Mexico City filming permits are issued at multiple levels. The Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de la Ciudad de México issues permits for many public cultural and heritage spaces. The SEDUVI (urban development) office manages permits for public rights of way. Individual alcaldías (boroughs) have their own requirements. For federal archaeological and historical zones (including Centro Histórico UNESCO sites), INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History) authorization is required. Caldera Films manages all Mexico City permit applications.
Mexico City offers excellent production value relative to US and European markets. Social media content packages start around MXN $60,000–$120,000 (approx. USD $3,500–$7,000). A 30-second commercial with full crew and post typically runs MXN $180,000–$700,000 (USD $10,500–$40,000). Corporate brand films and B2B videos range MXN $120,000–$500,000. High-end campaigns with extensive locations and name talent scale significantly higher. Mexican IVA (16% VAT) applies to in-country invoices.
Absolutely. Native Spanish-language production is a core strength of Caldera Films. We produce natively in Mexican Spanish — not dubbed, not subtitled from English — with Mexican-market scriptwriters, directors, and on-camera talent. We can also produce content in both Spanish and English from a single shoot, maximizing production efficiency for brands serving US-Hispanic and Mexican audiences simultaneously.
Mexico City's most compelling production locations include: Centro Histórico (Zócalo, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Alameda Central — UNESCO World Heritage), Paseo de la Reforma (iconic boulevard, Ángel de la Independencia monument), Polanco (luxury boutiques, high-end restaurants, corporate offices), Roma Norte and Condesa (trendy cafés, art deco apartments, street murals), Coyoacán (Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul neighborhood, cobblestone streets), Xochimilco (traditional chinampas and flower boats), and Teotihuacán (Pyramid of the Sun and Moon, 50km from downtown).
Drone operations in Mexico are regulated by the AFAC (Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil). Commercial drone flights in Mexico City require operator certification and, in most cases, prior AFAC authorization. Urban drone operations in CDMX are heavily restricted due to the proximity of NAICM/AIFA and Benito Juárez airports, and due to the dense urban environment. We work exclusively with AFAC-certified drone operators and manage all aerial filming authorizations for Mexico City productions.
Yes. While Mexico City is our primary Mexico production hub, we also produce in Guadalajara (Mexico's second city and tech startup capital), Monterrey (industrial and corporate production), Los Cabos (luxury resort and hospitality), Riviera Maya (tourism and lifestyle), and Oaxaca (cultural and documentary). We can coordinate multi-city Mexico productions under a single production management structure.
Caldera Films is a premium choice for international brands producing in Mexico City. Our bilingual Spanish-English production capability, established CDMX crew relationships, and experience navigating Mexico City's multilayered permit system make us particularly effective for brands that want Miami or US production standards delivered in the world's largest Spanish-language city.
